The history of roulette is one that can be explained in a few paragraphs, but still covers many countries of the world. A mathematician named Blaise Pascal invented roulette in the French 17th century, which was over three hundred years ago. In 1842, there was another two Frenchmen named Francois and Louis Blanc who added the "0" to the roulette wheel in order to increase house odds. Increasing the house odds means that the gambler will win less often. Roulette was introduced to the U.S. in the 1800’s with the addition of the second 0 in order to increase the house odds even further, so the gambler will win even less often. This statement comes from the fact that when you add up all the numbers on a roulette wheel they equal “666” which is reported as representing the devil.
