Roulette Online History

The history of roulette is one that can be explained in a few paragraphs, but still covers many countries of the world. A mathematician named Blaise Pascal invented roulette in the French 17th century, which was over three hundred years ago. In 1842, there was another two Frenchmen named Francois and Louis Blanc who added the "0" to the roulette wheel in order to increase house odds. Increasing the house odds means that the gambler will win less often. Roulette was introduced to the U.S. in the 1800’s with the addition of the second 0 in order to increase the house odds even further, so the gambler will win even less often. In the coming years, Roulette spread all over Europe and the U.S. making it one of the most famous casino games, such as it is today. Some consider roulette the “King of the Casino Games” because it was associated with the casinos in Monte Carlo which has a great number of roulette wheels of all variants. Francois Blanc established the first casinos in Monte Carlo and allegedly bargained with the devil to obtain the secrets of roulette. This statement comes from the fact that when you add up all the numbers on a roulette wheel they equal “666” which is reported as representing the devil. Many people do not believe in this theory but there are gamblers who do.Roulette or "small wheel" in french, is the most popular game of chance in the world. But the exact history of Roulette is unknown although there are theories. One is that the game was invented in China and brought to Europe by Dominican monks who in those days were trading with the Chinese. The second is that a man named Blaise Pascal, a 17th Century French mathematician, invented the game.

There are two versions of the Roulette Casino Game. The single "0" Roulette game, known as European Roulette, was developed in 1842 by Frenchmen Francois and Louis Blanc to create a more winnable game but as gambling was illegal in France during this time, the game came onto the scene in Hamburg, Germany where it grew in popularity. Later, it is said that Francois and his son Camille brought the game back to southern France for the Prince of Monaco, Charles III and the amazing resort of Monte Carlo was born. Roulette hit America in the early 1800s, but they removed the double "00" resulting in American Roulette , which of course made the advantage push over to the house. As gambling became legal throughout France, the game of Roulette remained restricted to Monte Carlo. That was until 1933 and this ensured both Monte Carlo Casino and the game of Roulette an extremely popular Casino Game. Online Roulette as we know it today first surfaced on the Internet in the mid-1990s. Undoubtedly, the game today is as popular among players online as it is in land-based casinos.
